This evening a lovely teen patron named Caty hung out with me at the Reference Desk and we shared stories of our life journeys that led us to Seattle.
This evening she had encountered a raccoon n the sidewalk near the library. She had stopped her bike and backed away, regarding the raccoon.
The raccoon was smart--it was farmers' market day and there was lots of food. Of course, there were lots of pople who didn't feel comfortable having a wild animal running through the market, near people and food and so the animal control folks were called but the animal ran off.
Treasure had been tasked by Andy to monitor the situation. Good thing she had a waterproof coat.
Librarians do many things they never thought they would do when you were in library school.
It was an amazing day for compliments--I can't even remember them all! One guy was so grateful , he wanted to kiss me! Fortunately, he just kissed my hand!
And Jack brought us beautiful flowers from the market and has promised them for the rest of the market Thursdays.
The library is truly about personal connections!
Treasure is right, I should hold those close to tide me over a hard day!
